Everybody reveres pious people by touching their feet. A popular opinion is that if we don’t touch their feet, they will become upset. While this may not happen, people do touch their feet and apply the dust from their feet. The truth and the science behind this are that pious people have a certain aura about them and they emit a lot of energy and influence anyone around them with it.

The idea behind touching their feet is to get influenced by their energy for our own betterment. However, with time, the logic behind this action has been forgotten and it has become a social norm and an issue of privilege.

Science Behind the Practice

Every object on the face of the earth carries a certain level of electromagnetic energy. This energy influences anything or anyone that comes in contact with it. This applies to people too; every pore of a person’s being is infused with an energy that influences their surroundings. People with virtuous thoughts are capable of uplifting other people; those with bad thoughts can lead others down a darker path.

Legend has it that an unbending personality like the Viceroy of India had to bow to Mahatma Gandhi’s virtuous personality just by being around him. Also, Lord Gautam Buddha is known to have a powerful personality which could influence wrongdoers into changing their paths and lead more fruitful lives.
